Now lets pick one of those gods

The Volcano God

In the north of a dry, vast land 

called Midian

which is today the  province of Medina in Saudi Arabia,

there is the low volcano

"Hala´l  Badr"

Numbers of basalt streams and tracks of eruptions 

pull through the scanty area. The most imposing crater, 

the 170 metres high volcano Hala´l Badr 

gapes on a 1600 metre high mesa in Saudi Arabia.

About 3500 years ago, this volcano was active.

Moses, the first author of the Old Testament, wrote:

Exodus 16. "On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, with a thick cloud over the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast. Everyone in the camp trembled. 17 Then Moses led the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain. 18 Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the Lord descended on it in fire. The smoke billowed up from it like smoke from a furnace, and the whole mountain[b] trembled violently. 19 As the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and the voice of God answered him.[c]

By taking the Bible literally, 
(like the british physician Sir Colin Humphreys, Cambridge recommends)

the text sounds like an volcanic eruption. 

Also Theologist Margot Käßmann and 
the swiss Scientist in Egyptology Dr. Othmar Keel
are supporters of the "Crater-Theory"

Apperantly mount Sinai lays not in Midian.

Moses went twice to Midian to meet  his god,

"... the god of his fathers."

The Shasu

ln Midian lived a tribe of herdsmen, 

known as the "Shasu" or "Sandwanderers" - 

as the Egyptians used to call them, but maybe it means just "nomad" or "bedouin".

There is evidence, that the clan was trading their sheeps and goats till palastine.

The Shasu wearing skirts with dangling tassels. 

They were armed with spears, crooked daggers and boomerangs.

On a stonerelief, they are shown with cut off foreskins.

In a papyrus the Shasu were described as robbers:

"The narrow path is dangerous because Shasu do itself behind the bushes hiding"

In another papyrus describes them: "they have fierce faces and they are hostile"

The Shasu robbed the egyptian caravans on their way to the Jemenites - No wonder that the Pharao Amenhotep (Amenophis III)  got pissed off about the Sandwanderers. 

So the Egyptians captured some of the Shasu 

and enslaved them.  

The Shasu were almost always looked upon as enemies of the Egyptians. For example, at the famous Battle of Kadesh in ca. 1275 BC, there were Shasu soldiers who were allies of the Hitites against Rameses II. It is likely that the Egyptians classified all of the Edomites, Ammonites Amalekites and Hapiru as Shasu. 

Was the real Moses a Schasu?




Whether Moses himself was a Schasu, nobody still knows how to say. It is not clear sometimes whether the biblical prophet lived generally one day. clear is only that the Bible stores a deep recollection: And this connects the roots of the Israelites with shepherd's people which lived near the Red Sea. Simplisticly one could express the new God's formula,therefore, so:

At the beginning was the fire

This temple was built under 

the reign of Pharao Amenophis III.

The below table displays a cast (reversed) 

The carved hieroglyphs says: 

"land of the Schasu YHW" 

(the last part is missing)

This is the first mention of "YHW " 

Now think: There are halfnomadic tribes roving in an arid and rocky area, in the Bronze-Age. How they would explain an active volcano other then as a god?. They gave this god a name - YHWH.

Jahweh, a tribal god.

- it is man-made -

and so are all religions

see, here's the problem with that.

There are a crap ton of religions, 

and many of them have a similar 

"believe in my god 

or my god will spank you when you die" rule.

None of these religions are any more proven than the others,

 meaning that one doesn't really know 

which of these spankings they can avoid 

by selective worship, 

so I would either have to worship ALL gods, 

or just take my chances with none. 

Then of course, 

most of these gods are mutually exclusive, 

meaning they get upset if you are 

also trying to appease a different god, so really

 I would have to pick one of them anyway.

In that case, I'll pick the one where there is no spanking, 

and I get to live my life without any outdated code of conduct.
